Addrain, Rebecca, their daughter Skye, and dog Piper the Patterdale Terrier are avid overlanders. They travel frequently in their Ford E350 van and Addrain also goes on many camping trips on his Africa Twin adventure bike. Rebecca is always on the hunt for overlanding-friendly items that blur the lines between practicality, luxury and comfort. Whilst she's a huge fan of cashmere for it's warmth and softness, she also recognizes it's inherent fragility and impracticality for overlanding. Last Christmas Rebecca was gifted a pair of Alpaca socks and she was immediately struck by how they were as soft as cashmere but much more durable. Upon research she discovered Alpaca has many qualities that make it perfect for overlanding. After tracking down the company that manufactured the socks she became a registered wholesaler and the rest is history. Now she shares her favorite Alpaca socks, blankets, and accessories with fellow overlanders at expos across the US.
Alpaca has many exceptional qualities that make it perfect for overlanding. It’s incredibly lightweight but exceptionally soft, with superior thermal regulation for maintaining the optimal temperature in all conditions. It’s hypo-allergenic and very low in lanolin so people who can’t wear wool can usually wear alpaca. It’s also anti-bacterial and naturally odor and stain resistant making it a practical choice when you can’t wash your items for several days. In addition, it’s naturally moisture wicking and water repellent so it keeps you dry and also dries fast when washed. It’s UV resistant and, for those times around the campfire, it’s naturally fire-resistant!
